"Cape Cod in May stirs hope in the hearts of previously frozen New Yorkers, its verdant lawns and ocean breezes holding the promise of summer days just around the corner."

If you've ever interviewed or read an interview with Nicholas Sparks, you'll learn that his becoming the author he is today was a bit of a surprise. When he got his first offer, the amount was unreal and blew him away. I learned that many years ago when I had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to interview him.
Some find his books a bit flowery and lovey-dovey. I find them soothing in a hate-filled world. M. Night Shyamalan is one of my favorite movie directors, so it's not surprising I ran out and bought this book. Life intervened, and it took a few months before I found time to sit down and read it.
I'm glad I did. It's a supernatural romance that had me hooked. Architect Tate is in town to come up with the plans for his best friend's new home. He's had a mental breakdown after his sister's death, so this is his first time back out on his own.
When he checks into Cape Cod B&B, he never expects to find the house he thought he was renting alone inhabited by a beautiful young woman. She's changing his life for the better, but she has a secret to solve, and it pushes Tate to boundaries he never expected.
I'd call Remains a beach read, though in my case, it was a hint of spring, sit in the sun, wrapped in a blanket, and read. I read it in one sitting and wish it hadn't ended.
