My Life as a Dust Devil by Carly Berg
"Shocking hues of gold and orange splash across a periwinkle-tinted sky in those magical moments before the sun drops behind the mountains."

I wish I could say that My Life as a Dust Devil impressed me. The writing and flow were fine, but many of the characters annoyed me, and it made it very hard to like the story.
Star is a child born to a semi-stable father and a mother who hates staying in one place. Her life is spent between living with her stable dad and loving stepmother, and being whisked off by her mom when the whim occurs. When her mom tires of her, she abandons her, leaving Star to find her way back to her father again.
While Star longs for normalcy and stability, it's not what life has in store for her.
This is kind of a coming-of-age story, and it's one that made me sad. I couldn't love it because so much happened that just pissed me off.
