First lines matter. It's what draws me into a story and sets the stage for what's to come. If I can't connect in that opening line, I start to wonder if it's going to be a dud.

Don't get me wrong. I will keep reading. I usually give books a few chapters to settle in, but that first line is still so very important.

That's what my book reviews will start with. All reviews feature the first line from the book. From there, I'll delve into the plot and anything that bugged me with the story or characters. I'll celebrate the positives, too.

With that out of the way, welcome to First Line Book Reviews. Enjoy your time and maybe along the way I'll help you find something amazing to read. In the past, I would try to review every book authors or publishers sent me. That's not happening. Most of my books are personal purchases or books I found on Kindle Unlimited.

Most reviewers write short novels for reviews. I don't. SEO might want lengthy diatribes, but I'd rather keep things short and sweet for the reader. If you want a long page to read, First Line Book Reviews isn't going to be for you. If you want short and sweet, welcome!
